Originally published by Funk & Wagnalls, February 12, 1883, but not published separately by them. Exactly one month later it was published by John Alden. Elzevir Library, Vol. No. 21, March 12, 1883. The first separately published biography of Twain. Quite uncommon in wraps.
The front and rear halves of the folded cover have split in two. The rear half stays connected to the text by the string, but of course is delicate. Otherwise it is in very nice condition.

This is #521, ''A woman is only a woman but a good cigar's a smoke.'' Measures 2 1/8'' x 1 15/16''. Distributed in packs of Mogul cigarettes between the summer of 1909 and the fall of 1910.

Ogden's Guinea Golds Series C 1902, Number 292. Interesting in that the jacket he is wearing has was obviously enhanced by hand and the tie is wearing was drawn on for this card. An uncommon card.

This is the picture of Mark Twain on his last visit to his boyhood home in May, 1902. The photo was reproduced and sold in this form by the owner of the negative to Hannibal tourists well into the 1940s. The earliest version has a dull finish mounted on a wide grey mat with the caption imprinted deeply into the mat (up to about 1920 maybe). This is the later format. Measures about 4.25'' x 3.25''.
Very good condition.
